VET Blueprint Project
From Training to Transformation: Strengthening the VET Workforce for Australia’s Energy Future.
The Blueprint Project (VBP) is a national initiative designed to strengthen the capacity and capability of the VET sector to meet the growing skills needs of Australia’s energy industry. As part of PSO’s wider strategic agenda, the Blueprint drives Workforce Planning activities by:
- Providing vital research and testing to meet the needs
of the VET and energy workforce - Providing critical intelligence to inform Training Product
Development and Industry Stewardship - Building PSO’s organisational capability to respond to
the changing demands of the workforce
By mapping the state of the workforce from data on educator supply and demand, demographics, qualifications, and career pathways we identified systemic challenges. These insights form part of PSO’s “Mapping the Baseline Grid” report, which will guide effective workforce planning and future action.
Through extensive engagement with educators, learners, training providers, and industry stakeholders, we identified pain points and equity issues particularly for First Nations people, migrants, and women in trades. The insights and system-level issues identified are presented in the, “Diagnosing System Pressure Points” report and frame the case for innovation.
PSO co-designs innovative and practical solutions to address critical workforce challenges. Outcomes to be unveiled mid- 2026 through an online Blueprint summit, with a dedicated micro-site and our final report “Rewiring the Workforce Grid.”
