Exciting News!
The UET High Voltage Rubber Cables Elective Unit Development project has been formally endorsed by the State and Territory Skills Ministers. The updated training products were published on 22 December 2025 and are now available on training.gov.au.
This project was initiated following advice from industry stakeholders to address a critical gap in accredited training for High Voltage (HV) rubber-insulated cables. After a series of consultations, PSO has successfully delivered:
- A new unit of competency (UoC)– UETDRDU023 Joint, terminate and maintain high voltage Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) cable
- A revised qualification– UET30821 Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Underground (release 3)
These updates ensure alignment with industry practices, close essential skill gaps, and support Australia’s clean energy transition by equipping the workforce with the capabilities needed for emerging technologies.
