PSO has successfully completed the First Nations Power Security Project, delivered in partnership with GIRA Group, a First Nations–owned and led business.
The project examined how Australia’s clean energy transition can deliver stronger, more equitable outcomes for First Nations peoples through training, employment, and economic participation.
The research confirmed strong alignment between First Nations community aspirations and the workforce and procurement opportunities emerging across renewables, transmission, storage and energy security. It also found that participation remains limited without culturally safe, place-based approaches.
PSO is currently reviewing the recommendations and will determine appropriate next steps, including consideration of future pilot activities and partnerships, and will also draw on the report to inform other First Nations-related projects and broader organisational strategy within PSO.
